Critical Shutdown Integration for Ansul Systems

Suppression Stops the Fire. Shutdown Stops It Coming Back.
Our shutdown interface connects directly to your ANSUL system, isolating fuel and electrics the second it activates. No delay, no doubts, no compromise.
Appliance and Air Intake Shutdown Connections
As the leaders in kitchen fire suppression shutdown solutions MKFS understands the critical role shutdown connections play in effective kitchen fire suppression. We’ve long supported the integration of Ansul systems with interface boxes that ensure electrical and gas shutdowns operate exactly as required.
Today, we offer a complete solution for interfacing both electrical and gas supplies, helping ensure that your system performs exactly as it should when activated.
Our interface boxes provide a compliant and reliable method for integrating fuel and power shutdowns, whether you’re handling the connection in-house or require a full installation service from our team.
What’s Required for Full Protection?
1.
Make-Up / Supply Air Fans
When the suppression system activates, any make-up or supply air fans within the protected canopy must shut down immediately. This prevents forced air fuelling the growth of the fire.
2.
Sources of Gas and Electrical Power
It’s essential to isolate the heat source. All protected gas and electrical power to cooking appliances must be automatically shut off when the suppression system discharges. This requirement forms part of UL300, EN 16282-7, EN17446, and LPS1223. Failure to isolate these services can result in fire reignition — with no suppression left to contain it.
3.
Optional Fire Alarm Integration
While the Ansul system can be connected to the fire alarm, this isn’t a mandatory requirement and often isn’t the most effective solution. Many commercial kitchens now use more electrical appliances that need a dedicated shutdown interface. Shutting off the main gas supply via the fire alarm may also cut off essential systems like boilers and heating — leading to unnecessary disruption to your business.
